The Active Retreat surfing lesson is a fantastic experience and is a highlight for many guests. Warm, crystal clear ocean and the amazing Fuerteventura beaches – what’s not to love?
We use highly qualified surf instructors and they’ll always make sure the surf lesson at a safe location – you’ll only ever be in waves appropriate for beginners.

Stand Up Paddleboarding
On the SUP lesson you’ll be taken by boat from Fuerteventura to the neighbouring Lobos Island where you’ll paddle in crystal clear, calm water.
The water here is turquoise, wonderfully warm and it’s an experience you’ll love! It truly is a tropical island with flat-calm bays. It’s perfect for a gentle paddle around.
SUP is really beginner-friendly too, so even if you’re brand new to the sport you’ll have a great time.
The Active Retreat bike ride is a scenic tour of the north end of the island.
We follow a varied route across different terrains, taking in some of the amazing views of the island from the top of a volcano (yes, it’s true!)
After the volcano hike we follow a 5 mile downhill track into Corralejo, then pick up the North Shore track which follows the entire northern coast of Fuerteventura. The north shore track takes us past some unique off-grid villages and deserted beaches.
We ride at the pace of the slowest rider and don’t worry – the hills aren’t anything too strenuous!
The fitness elements of the Active Retreat are balanced – the harder sessions are balanced out with the restorative, stretching benefits of yin yoga. Enjoy outdoor yoga as the Fuerteventura sun sets for the day…
Our classes are taught in a purpose-built yoga yurt in the peaceful countryside. All of our teachers have over a decade of experience and will guide you through a deeply relaxing practice.
The Active Retreat villa has an outdoor covered area where we take our circuit classes. We use a mixture of weight training, body weight exercises and partner work to deliver varied and challenging classes.
Where possible we exercise outdoors on the Active Retreat, making the world our gym!
Who doesn’t love to train in the morning sunshine? Getting a sweat on before breakfast is a brilliant way to start your day…
One of the great things about our location is the varied training environment. Fuerteventura has stunning sand dunes, including one we’ve nicknamed ‘The Dune of Doom’ so we use those to our advantage!
The dune running workout is an amazing calorie-burning high intensity interval training session.
We mix up our training environments and take advantage of the scenery all around us. You didn’t come on holiday to a beautiful island so you could spend all day in and indoor gym!
